About the Ceiriog Valley
The valley runs along the River Ceiriog and is the gateway to the Berwyn Range. While just over the hill from Llangollen the valley has a very different feel – less touristy and more wild. It is a beautiful place to explore. You will find rivers, raging waterfalls, forests and lots of wildlife. There are miles of glorious walks to explore and excellent on road cycling and mountain bike routes.
The valley was described by the British Prime Minister Lloyd George as “a little piece of heaven on earth” and we could not agree more.
The valley has a few small villages scattered along the way. Glyn Ceiriog is the largest with a pub and shop. Pontfadog also has a small shop and pub. Finally at the end of the valley you have the small village of Llanarmon Dyffryn Ceiriog which is a beautiful place to visit and where our cottage is based. Llanarmon has two historic inns which both serve splendid food and drink.
