The well equipped kitchen diner has everything you need for your time away including an oven and hob, fridge freezer, dishwasher, microwave and washing machine. Take a seat at the wooden pews around the dining table and you can keep your chef company. If the sun is shining and you want to eat alfresco, wander through the door leading from the kitchen onto the sunny patio where you will find a large brick built BBQ, seating area and table. A great spot to sit and relax with a glass of something cold with views over the fields.
You can enjoy delicious local produce from the award winning butchers in Chirk or the delicatessens in Llangollen. You often find small holdings in the area selling free range eggs and vegetables from the end of their drive – just drop some money in the honesty box.
Light the log burner and get cosy in the comfortable lounge. There is a TV with Freesat, lots of board games (kids and adults), books, DVDs. Two large sash windows fill the room with light and provide views onto the front garden and the fields beyond. Alternatively head into the kitchen diner, turn on the record player and spin some of our vinyl collection. Yes it is mostly cheesy from the 70’s, 80’s and 90’s – but great fun. If you have children they will be amazed that music does not just come from an iPod.
We do get some remarkably sunny days in Llanarmon – I think it is a micro climate due to the valley. If you are blessed with the sun shining head out to the rear patio or the front garden and relax in the sun. There is also a full size table tennis table.
I don’t know if it is the air in Llanarmon or just the peace and quiet but we always sleep well when we are here. From the hall, stairs lead to the first floor where you will find the largest bedroom which has a king size bed with sash windows overlooking the front garden. A door leads to an en suite bathroom with a walk in drench shower, basin and loo.
Also on the first floor is the second bedroom which has two full size single beds and a large sash window which overlooks the front garden and fills the room with light. There is a third bedroom on the second floor that we don’t rent out but reserve for our use when we are at the cottage. All bed linen and towels are provided. We also have a cot available for a baby (please supply your own linen for the cot).
Accessed from the landing is the main family bathroom which is fitted with a bath, loo and wash basin. An electric shower is fitted over the bath. In the main bedroom is an en suite with loo, wash basin and walk in drench shower.
Gardens, patio and parking
From the off road parking area, you walk into the enclosed front garden with a lockable shed for bike storage. From the kitchen a door leads to a sunny patio with BBQ, seating and a table. In the summer, we often have breakfast here or wine in the evening! In the front garden there is a full size table tennis table (with bats and balls provided). There is off-road parking for one car and additional on-road parking next to the house or further down the lane (a quiet lane).
Out and about
You can plan your day out using the guide books and large selection of Ordnance Survey maps at the cottage. As we know the area really well, we also provide a list of recommended places to visit, eat, explore and play – places we have visited and have enjoyed. A little bit of local knowledge goes a long way! When you return to the cottage you will find plenty of room for muddy boots, wellies and drying coats.
For families with children
The front garden is enclosed (with a gate that little people could open). The rear patio area has steps going up to the paddock. At the rear of the paddock is a footpath that heads up to the hills (via a stile). Over the road from the cottage is a small brook that is fenced. One travel cot and one high chair are available for use (sorry no stair gates provided). If you have kids, please use your discretion if you are leaving them unattended in the garden.
Heating, Wi Fi, mobile phones etc.
Heating is oil fired central heating and oil and electricity is included in the rental cost. First basket of logs for the wood burner is provided. Additional bags can be purchased locally. Wi Fi is provided at the cottage, however there is no mobile phone reception in the village. You have to drive about 5 minutes for reception.
Note – floor plans are not to scale. They are shown so you have an understanding of the general layout of the cottage. The second floor bedroom is not for use by guests – we use this when we stay.
