Holiday cottage in Wales near a pub

Two award winning pubs within a two minute walk

Llanarmon Dyffryn Ceiriog has two award winning historic inns within a two minute walk of our holiday cottage. So if you are looking for holiday cottage in Wales near a pub, you have found the right place.

On one side of the village square we have The Hand and just over the road The West Arms. Both do fantastic food and offer a friendly welcome. If you are walking in the area, they are definitely muddy boot friendly. Visit in the winter and they are bound to have their open fires warming their comfortable bar and lounge areas. They are wonderful places to end up after a day walking, cycling or whatever takes your fancy.

If we have whetted your appetite, read on to learn a little more about the two inns in the village or read about things to do in the area and our self-catering holiday cottage. Or check availability and book here.

For such a small place, there’s not one but two impressive inns here, which – combined with some lovely walks on the doorstep, through the valleys and onto the moors – make Llanarmon DC the ideal choice for a relaxing countryside break.

Rough Guides

The Hand sits in a popular spot with walkers, mountain bikers and wildlife spotters, who will spend days in the hills before rolling down to this 16th-century drovers inn. A coal fire burns on the range in reception, a wood fire crackles in the front bar, and a wood-burner keeps things cosy in the the restaurant.

You could say it’s in the middle of nowhere. But this ‘nowhere’ is a glorious place. A secret valley where the countryside is a spectacle to behold.

The hand

Voted on of the 30 cosiest pubs in Britain by the Daily Telegraph, The Hand is a great spot to relax with a drink. It has a comfortable bar area with a lovely open fire and a separate restaurant. Outside you will find a nice patio to sit if the sun is shining. A real highlight for me is the food – it really is quite stunning and the chef is always showcasing local produce. They also do a great range of beers, wines and real ales.

The west arms

Right over the road from The Hand is the West Arms which was initially established way back in the 1670’s. The West Arms also does fantastic food featuring local produce and has a great range of beers and real ales. If you head out of the back there is a beautiful beer garden overlooking open fields and the river Ceiriog which runs past the bottom of the garden. What a place to spend a few hours on a sunny evening!
