Mountain biking and cycling friendly holiday cottage

Glan y Wern is the ideal base for your cycling or mountain biking holiday in North Wales. As mountain bikers ourselves, the trails and riding in the area were a big draw for us when we purchased the cottage. Learn more about the riding in the area.

Cyclists-welcome

We are within easy reach of LlandeglaCoed y Brenin and Revolution Bike Park. The Penmachno Trail just outside Betws y Coed and Gwydir Mawr & Bach at Llanrwst also make for some great riding. If you want something closer to the cottage, there are plenty of routes within the Ceiriog Valley. Just hop on your bike and you will be in the hills in no time.

Road cycling routes

The road following the Ceiriog River from Chirk to Llanarmon and onwards is a very popular route for road cyclists. Just over the hill many routes start in the popular town of Llangollen. The Horseshoe Pass is close by and is also a very popular route for cyclists. A little further south, the roads around Lake Vyrnwy are also very popular and have a range of cafes for refuelling.

Facilities for cyclists

We have a secure brick built building for bike storage and bike washing facilities. Off road car parking right next to our bike storage makes loading the car up with bikes a breeze.

Spares and repairs

There are bike shops in Llangollen (Llan Velo), Oswestry, Llandegla and Coed y Brenin.

Bike hire

Bike hire is available at Llandegla, Coed y Brenin, Lake Vyrnwy and Llyn Brenig. Please call ahead to check availability.

Cycling with children

While some of the mountain bike trails we mention above are aimed at more experienced riders with higher levels of fitness, Llandegla, Coed y Brenin and Llyn Brenig have trails suitable for young children and less experienced riders.
