About the Berwyn Range
The Berwyn Range is a stunningly beautiful area of North Wales. It is the highest ground in Wales that is not a National Park or AONB. Less well known than the Snowdonia National Park which lies to the west, the Berwyn Range has some fantastic walks to explore. It is a place to lose yourself in wild and beautiful scenery.
Although roughly bounded by the small towns of Bala, Llangollen and Corwen, the Berwyn Range is relatively undiscovered. You can often walk for hours without seeing another person. As well as walks, take time to visit the waterfall at Pistyll Rhaeadr, Moel Ty Uchaf stone circle and burial cairns or the stunning Lake Vyrnwy.
If you are looking for general information about the Berwyn Range this post is a good place to start and if you are looking for somewhere to stay, our holiday cottage in Llanarmon DC is a great base for walking in the Berwyn Range.
Where is the Berwyn Range
The Berwyn Range roughly stretches from Llangollen in the east, along the Dee Valley to Bala in the west. The highest peak is Cadair Berwyn, at 830 metres with another 24 peaks above 600 metres waiting to be explored.
The area is very scarcely populated. The main villages are Llanarmon Dyffryn Ceiriog, Corwen, Llanrhaeadr-ym-Mochnant and Llangynog. But in between the villages are miles of walks to explore.
Berwyn RANGE WALKS
There are countless walking options in the Berwyn Range. One of the best resources I have found for walking routes in the Berwyn Range is Mud and Routes. The choice of walks is extensive and the directions easy to follow. Walks around the Ceiriog Valley and Llanarmon DC are also included on the website.
