Things to do around the cottage

Voted one of the top 10 travel destinations in the world by Lonely Planet, North Wales is a great place to visit. Glan y Wern is located in the small village of Llanarmon Dyffryn Ceiriog high up in the Berwyn range and is surrounded by some of the nicest scenery in North Wales. We have two historic inns in the village which serve great food and drink and provide a nice break at the end of the day. Llanarmon was recommended by Rough Guides as one of the six must visit places in Wales you have never heard of!

To the north we have the Clwydian range and the Snowdonia National Park is just over 20 miles drive west. Local attractions include historic houses, stunning walks, great road cycling, mountain bike trails, beautiful lakes, waterfalls and adventure activities. The area is a haven for wildlife including buzzards, hen harriers, peregrine falcons, owls and polecats. If you are travelling with children you will not be short of things to do with kids (we have two kids ourselves and these are all tried and tested activities).

The villages of Llangollen, Betws-y-Coed and Bala are a short drive away and the historic Roman city of Chester with its amphitheatre, city walls and medieval covered Rows is just over one hour by car. If mountain biking is your thing, we are close to some of the best mountain biking trails in North Wales. Coed Llandegla, Penmachno and Coed y Brenin are easily reached by car while Revolution Bike Park is just over the hill in the next valley.
