Zip World Titan – zip wires in Blaenau Ffestiniog North Wales

We have been wanting to try out the zip wires at Zip World for ages and finally took the plunge at the weekend. The sun was shining so a perfect day for strapping into a harness and flinging yourself across a quarry in North Wales. It took us about 1:30 to drive from our holiday cottage in Llanarmon in North Wales (available for rent here) to Blaenau Ffestiniog.

If you have not heard of Zip World before, they have a range of adventure activities around North Wales in various locations. We had previously visited Bounce Below at the Blaenau Ffestiniog site and the kids liked the look of the zip lines. At the time our youngest was not quite tall enough to fly though.

There are three zip wires – Alpha, Bravo and Charlie. Alpha the longest (they said about 1km in length I think), Charlie the fastest and Bravo. There are four zip wires that run in parallel, so if you are a family or bunch of friends you can race each other to the bottom. They kit you up, drive you to the top of the hill, strap you onto the wire and away you go.

The set up is ace and the staff are great. I would recommend it – as long as you have a head for heights. Our kids really enjoyed it and so did the adults!

Tips
  • It is weather dependent, so if too windy it will not run. However they will let you re-book for another day if you have booked up-front.

  • The day we went it was not too busy, but it was the weekend after the bank holiday. I suspect if you turned up in the summer you may struggle to buy tickets on the day.

  • Great onsite cafe and also picnic tables if you want to take your own lunch.

  • Blaenau is only a five minute drive away and it has various options for food.

  • Plenty of other walks and things to do in the area if you want to make a day of it.

  • Bounce Below is at the same site and joint tickets can be purchased at a saving.

  • You can hire cameras to film your flight.

  • There are age, height and weight restrictions – so check them out before you book.

Here are our videos – hope you enjoy them! It was quite windy so apologies for the wind noise.

Zip wire one – Alpha

The longest and slowest of the three zip wires. But still pretty fast!

Zip wire two – Bravo

The second of the three zip wires.

Zip wire three – Charlie

The fastest of the three zip wires.
