Stretching east from Bala across to Llangollen are the Berwyn Mountains. A stunningly beautiful part of North Wales that is overshadowed by its big brother
Greetings from sunny North Wales
So far, we have had a fantastic year for weather in North Wales. I can’t remember the last time we had such an unbroken spell of fantastic weather. It seems to have been sunny for weeks.
The recent May bank holiday weekend was no exception. The weather was fantastic so we drove down to Aberdovey and spent some time on the beach. It only takes about an hour and a half to reach Aberdovey from our holiday cottage (which is available to rent). There are closer beaches but we are very fond of Aberdovey.
It is really easy to park right next to the beach, it never seems to get too busy and there is a great fish and chip shop 2 minutes walk from the beach plus a couple of cafes and ice cream shops. Aberdovey is also a great spot for watersports and there were a lot of windsurfers, jet skis and paddle boards on the water. If you have never visited, give it a go – you won’t be disappointed.
We then headed a couple of miles up the road to Tywyn and spent an hour playing crazy golf and losing all our money on the amusements. I have not been to Tywyn for years and the kids had never been before. It ended up being a great day out.
