Some of our favourite places to shop around Llangollen and Bala

Here are some of the people and places we like to buy from and check out around our holiday cottage in Llanarmon. There are no shops in Llanarmon (but we do have two fantastic pubs, a little gallery, great walks, beautiful views and superb mountain bike riding close by) so our closest towns to shop are Llangollen and Bala.
The range of small independent shops in Llangollen makes a welcome change to the generic high streets you seem to find elsewhere. There are also some great little shops in Chirk. If you fancy checking some of these out and want somewhere to stay in the area, take a look at our holiday cottage in Llanarmon.
Llangollen and Bala shopping
Independent beer and wine shop on Bala high street. Great range of beer, wine, gin etc from Wales and around the world. There is even a little bar at the back so you can stop for a drink.
Sweet shop on Bala high street which sells a great range of sweets and chocolate. Our kids love the amazing chocolate animals which are made locally. Great place for kids of all ages.
A two minute walk from the cottage in Llanarmon, Rosie Davies sells beautiful paintings and prints of the valley and the local area.
Award winning butchers in Chirk. Excellent selection of quality local meat and pies. Friendly and really helpful staff.
Right over the road from McArdles in Chirk. Proper old fashioned (in a nice way) green grocers selling quality ingredients.
Porters is a wonderful delicatessen in the middle of Llangollen selling cheeses, charcuterie, gourmet foods and cool ingredients for budding chefs.
Hidden down a side street in Llangollen. We always stop to take a look at what is in stock. Often featured on Salvage Hunters. They sell some beautiful items.
Hidden away down Dee Lane in Llangollen. They sell locally produced crafts and we have always found them really reasonably priced. Great for birthday or Christmas gifts.
Outdoor supplies shop on the main street in Llangollen. They sell everything you could possibly need for a trip away. My children seem particularly fascinated by the excellent selection of knives and axes which is a slight concern.
Our local bike shop offering sales, spares and repairs. They have some very nice bikes!
Food shop selling a range of whole foods, herbs, spices and interesting ingredients. A great place to visit if you are a foodie.
