A little about us

We have two boys who enjoy the outdoors, walking, water sports, mountain biking and anything else we can throw at them so the area is perfect. We bought the cottage in 2015 as a weekend place and holiday destination.

Our longer term plan is to re-locate full time once the kids have left home. We don’t rent it out as a “full time” holiday let, we just try to rent it out a few weeks each year to cover bills, council tax etc. We think Llanarmon is a very special place and always switch off as soon as we enter the valley. We invite you to share our home and explore this beautiful corner of North Wales.

The Harrisons

A little about the cottage

From what we can work out, the cottage was built around 1850. It is a traditional Welsh cottage, so thick solid stone walls under a slate roof. This makes it lovely and cool on a hot summer day but cosy and warm in the winter.

When we bought the cottage it was in a bit of a sad state. But as they say on the TV – you could see it had potential. Over the course of a year long renovation we installed a new kitchen, central heating, re-wired, sorted out rotten joists, fitted new windows, restored the existing sash windows, created an en suite to the main bedroom, decorated throughout, fitted a new family bathroom, fixed various leaks in the roof, installed an oil tank, built outside seating, BBQ area…. yes the list is endless. Most of the work we did ourselves with the exception of electrics and plumbing where we got some local tradesmen in.

The house is furnished with a mix of traditional and modern pieces which are in keeping with the property. However, we think little things make a difference. Over the years we have rented holiday places with dodgy cookers, cold showers etc. So when fitting out the cottage we specified things a Bosch hob and oven and decent Mira showers.
